It is with sadness that we announce that Alice Tay, partner and head of the corporate and commercial practice, is leaving the firm and the legal profession after a stellar 30-year career. She will continue her passion in the commercial and community space, consulting to businesses and not-for-profits seeking an experienced professional to guide them on their journey.
Joining our inspiring group of alumni, Alice says her leaving presents exciting new opportunities for MV Law, with the appointment of new partners.
“Every change brings new opportunities, and I see this as an amazing opportunity for the firm because Rob will bring new vigour to the position, and take the practice group in his own direction.”
Alice says she has thoroughly enjoyed her legal career and three decades with MV Law and will continue to support the firm as she embarks on her new adventure.
“It’s a testament to my sentiment for the firm that I will continue to support it well into the future. I’m not leaving to continue being a lawyer, but to dedicate my attention to helping businesses grow, organisations prosper and communities flourish which I really enjoy.
“As a lawyer, it’s been a privilege to meet so many amazing people and be part of what they do. As a partner with the firm since the early 1990s, I’ve enjoyed watching it grow from a two-person operation to the industry leader it is now. And no matter how large we have grown, we have always had a very flat and collegial structure – it doesn’t matter who you are here, you are valued as much as anyone.”
“I’ve seen so much in my 30 years as a lawyer, business owner, board member and more, so this new chapter is about sharing those experiences and working with organisations from the start of a new phase or project to help them achieve their goals.”
Alice leaves the corporate and commercial practice in the capable hands of Robert Starke, a respected commercial lawyer with over a decade of legal experience. Rob will also head up the firm’s wills and estates and government law teams.
