Laura Wood

Laura is a dedicated and passionate employment lawyer who is committed to helping clients resolve their workplace concerns. Working in the employment team as an Associate with Alisa Taylor and Amy Sydney, Laura brings added enthusiasm and determination to all legal matters.

Having graduated from the Australian National University in 2019 and admitted into the ACT legal profession in 2021, Laura principally advocates in employment, contract and anti-discrimination law. She strives for practical resolutions, whether it be for the employer, employee, contractor or relevant industrial party.

In her experience to date, she typically advises on misconduct investigations, workplace disputes, negotiating contracts, exits of employment, Fair Work Commission matters, claims of discrimination and more. Her clients can be found all around Australia and overseas, varying in business size and roles. Laura brings great professionalism, creativity and empathy when navigating legal issues.

Prior to MV Law, Laura has worked in a variety of Canberra law firms including Snedden Hall & Gallop, Badgery & Rafferty, Sparke Helmore and WMG Legal. She has also interned at the ACT Human Rights Commission, collaborated with the Women’s Legal Centre and taught law students in Myanmar. She has an extensive background in the hospitality industry and can speak English and French.

Laura gives back to the community as a volunteer member on the ACT Law Society Employment Committee, Anglican Clergy Conditions of Service Committee and mentor in the ANU Law MomentuM program. She provides tutoring to laws students in a variety of subjects. When she’s not working, you can find her exploring a foreign destination or trying new restaurants around Australia
